Closure of the office at 55 Catherine Street, St Albans

The Bank has decided to close its office at 55 Catherine Street, St Albans, from 10th May 2024. The Community Bank has been serving the community for many years from Premises in St Albans. However, increasingly our members deal with us online or via the telephone. After careful consideration of the low level of usage of the office by our members and the significant costs of maintaining this presence, we have decided that it is in the best interests of our membership to close the office.

Our email address and telephone number will remain the same.

As a result of the closure, we will no longer be able to provide cash services. A small number of our members currently deposit or withdraw cash in the office. In future, this will not be possible but our online and telephone banking services are available to all our members as they are now. We intend to cease cash services from the Office with immediate effect.

Extended opening hours

With effect from 10th May 2024, we are very pleased to advise you that we will be extending our hours of service. Our new opening times will be Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, Friday 8:00am – 4:00pm and Wednesday 8:00am – Midday.

Further questions

We would like to thank all our members for their continued support. We believe that these changes will ensure that the St Albans Community Bank will continue to serve our community into the future. We remain committed to our mission and purpose to provide loans at fair rates and secure, accessible savings to people living or working in Hertfordshire, and to provide a real alternative to commercial banks for the benefit of all our members.
